This ep was just beautiful and the visuals were gorgeous especially the shots at the end. The bgm was soothing as well. Kinda guessed Kazemai would lose but didn't expect Minato to miss, at least he didn't get depressed over it. Eager for the ceremony the next ep goodness, the last ep will make me cry a waterfall.

"we shoot for ourselves and we shoot for each other" omg.. this show i swear. such a spiritual sport, and it really is all about feel

Wayne Chinkokway • 1 year ago

man, of all people... why making minato missing that last shot 😭

EM • 1 year ago

I liked this actually. It shows that he really enjoys kyudo regardless of whether he hits or not. (Is "hit" the right term here?)

Ducks Are Epic • 1 year ago

I really like the fact that this anime doesn't follow the cliche of winning in the end.
Like you already said, Kyudo really isn't about winning.

Nona • 1 year ago

He's less accurate than his junior high lol. All 4 shots was all in the middle

If “the true treasure was the friends we made along the way” was an anime.

Great ending to a great show. I would like to think Kirisaki won because Shu seeks his father’s approval for self-actualization. Minato continues to practice kyudo because it helps bring him closer to his mother, so the practice of kyudo is part of his self-actualization. In that way, I would like to say (although admittedly biased) that Minato really wins here.

This show brings me back to why I enjoyed watching Run With The Wind so much. Both shows have a dominant theme that a disciplined approach to a craft (for them, their respective sports) is how one can truly be centred within themself.

Also really appreciated the Kazemai’s coach’s remarks at the end. I appreciate the his development into a fostering role that allowed the boys to express themselves through their kyudo rather than staying with a prescriptive approach.

Edit: apparently there is another episode remaining, don’t see why they would need one though

Dunno I am a little disappointed they lost . Sort of stupid really but I knew it was coming because how much they honed in on his finger injury. I assume that was the reason he missed all the competition he had been putting more and more stress on that finger and it had been bleeding regularly. I can't see him missing for any other reason then that it was sort of anticlimactic though it sort of defeats the whole purpose of his character and redemption.

taijitu • 1 year ago

Disappointed, anticlimactic pretty much sums up how I also feel about it.

it's sad that they did not show one complete shot, hoped we would get a nice calm breathtaking shot. but i guess masa-san is the only one who is supposed to hit the harts in a beautyful way :,D

besides that i don't know how to choose the right words to describe how awesome this anime was and how much it means to me. (i watched it before and 1 year after i started doing kyudo) i'm happy that both seasons were extremly good animated, no scenes or frames that seemed sloppy or cheap. this , the realistic sound and the stunning pictues of scenery and light in the second season let this anime feel very ......it just lives up to kyudo. it tries to capture and translate what you can feel and experience with kyudo.
there is dramadrama in the anime but it's not over the top and seems justified for a teenageworld. it's an anime a person who does kyudo could watch without feeling embarrassed or insulted.

i wish there would be a third season and we could see more of the girls shooting and theirstorys. also the families of the guys are very interesting. and of course the shamen guys came to short. it would be so awesome to watch them finding a coach and see more of the specific philosophy and drawing technique animated.

if someone who reads this, knows where i can buy or read the english or german version (online or book) of the light novel, please reach out to me, you would make my life better ;_;

Ooo, it's group flow, isn't it. Ikiai is group flow.
And it was beautifully depicted, too. Like, I could feel the calm and quiet in their heads, that absolute focus. Beautiful.

dude i will never get over nanao and kachan's relationship. the way nanao put the towel over kachan all smooth because he knew kachan wouldn't want people seeing him cry :'(

This episode was so beautiful. The sounds are as satisfying as ever.
This felt like a finale and I've been completely fine with it being one but it seems like next episode we're going to a festival where Kazemai will shoot. Excited!

i hate it whenever the MCs team lost 😭😭😭 i need plot armor for my heart 😭

F4834N • 1 year ago

well, they did it. they made just like most sports anime. damn it man, but well... nothing will ever be as bad as the losing streak in Ahiru no sora. still wish they won tho...

HELL NAH • 1 year ago

This is the most comforting and soothing sports anime that I have ever watched. That sudden d3@th part was somehow not so nerve racking but instead, it was so fun watching them despite being in a competition. Also, Ryouhei crying…..noooo. You did well mann!!! 😭

Beautiful, amazing, wonderful episode

shirocat • 1 year ago

Kyoto animation really did well - didnt expect that match would last for whole episode. I really like coloring - starting from Minato's eyes to everyone's faces in the sunset. I'm sad that they lost - if they havent ended in death group they might go as far as to finals. Next year they will get stronger- Ryohei needs training time after all (im not blaming him, but outcome would be different if he was in kyuudo as long as others). I wonder if Shuu got to know about Minato's accident? or just was happy that he came back to kyudo and reason didnt matter to him?

❤NoticemeSenpai❤ • 1 year ago

Kinda disappointed
His reason in missing the last shot was because he wasn't thinking of making the shot and just enjoying it is kinda bad and unnecessary.
I'm sorry but he should've had a different mentality especially since this was a nationals and he was an ochi.
Idc if he misses because he stressed about it as long as he was actually trying to make it.
What a shame.

MC really shows no strong competitiveness

❤NoticemeSenpai❤ • 1 year ago

I don't mean to put him in a bad light
Enjoying the sport is a must
But having no competitiveness truly is lackluster
Ryohei crying was a good example.
Because he actually did want to win

Yoi Ya • 2 months ago

i interpreted what minato said to the question, as something what people say after a oral exam or a job interview. that they don't remember what they did or say to fail or pass.

i think he also wanted to win, he gave his all exactly like shu. but he did not hang himself on frustration and acknowledged that he still made a beautyful shot. if he would be obsessive with winning and blame himself too much for missing then it would affect his way of the bow in a bad way. thats what he and onogi did in the first season. so i think it was a good way to show his growth and round up the story around minatos way of the bow

maybe ryohei cried because he sees the fault for loosing at his missed shots. he said he feels like he drags down the others.

when it came down to shu and minato at the end, it was clear for me that shu will not miss. his character is the character that never misses, only if he is distracted.

looserr • 1 year ago

it's kyudo though... let's think about the spirit of kyudo and not all the other intense sports in general. For this, I think it was a fitting reason. my boy is just enjoying it.

❤NoticemeSenpai❤ • 1 year ago

I guess
He just lacked enough spirit ig

looserr • 1 year ago

non. non. non. he had all the spirit, just not the competitive spirit. is what i think!

nox • 1 year ago

From a logical standpoint it just makes sense that this was the outcome. Kirisaki has seniors, they have more competitive experience and everything is on the line for them one last time. Not to mention Minato's finger injury. I hope they at least make it to the semi-finals in the nationals, they owe it to everyone they defeated

Tsukkiss my ass • 1 year ago

masa-san ure so hot ill miss u and that highlights guy.i wont miss monkey(mc) tho unlike when he did 😛
